Description
Nos 29 and 31 The Butts are early 19th century buildings that stand two storeys tall. They are constructed from coursed and dressed rubble, featuring bands over the ground and first floors, and have quoins, a cornice, and a parapet. The mansard slate roof has two segment-headed dormers and is topped with two brick chimneys on coped verges. The buildings have three windows, which include cross-glazed sashes and later casements. No 29 has an enlarged range of windows, with the central first-floor window being round-headed. The central door is topped with a plain bracketed pediment. No 31 features a two-storey lean-to extension with coped verges and a pair of first-floor windows, along with a simple bracketed pediment above the door in the lean-to. There is also a further single-storey extension to the left, which has two quatre-foil windows and a central segment-headed door. This door is a six-panel design with shaped panels and a simply traceried transom light.
