Description
The Bishop Chest Tomb, located 6 metres south-southeast of the south porch of the Church of Saint Margaret, is a chest tomb from the 19th century made of Ham stone. It features a base with a moulded plinth and panels that have incised borders, with fluted pilasters on both the flanks and ends. The tomb has a bold moulded coving on its hipped top. It commemorates members of the Bishop family, notably John, who died in 1851, and George, who died in 1865. The tomb may either be a very late copy of a 17th-century tomb or a re-use of one.
