Description

Lyng Court is a late 18th-century farmhouse constructed of brick with a squared lias plinth and a tiled roof featuring coped verges and brick stacks. The building has a basement, two storeys, and an attic, with a facade that includes one bay and three bays. The first floor has three-light casements with horizontal glazing bars, except for a semi-circular head window in the center of the right three bays. The ground floor features 20th-century metal casements that roughly match the style of the upper windows, with brick voussoirs above. There is a later gabled brick porch that includes a six-panelled door, with the top two panels being glazed. A lead fire-insurance plaque is located on the first floor. Inside, there are some original window shutters and doors. At the rear, there is an attached two-storeyed outbuilding, also of brick, which is likely a former smoking-house. The ground floor room of this outbuilding has a very broad fireplace with a wooden bressumer and hooks on the ceiling.
