Description
The Railway Hotel is a station hotel, now functioning as a public house, built around 1842. It features a rubble construction with brick dressings and a double-Roman tile roof, complemented by brick stacks. Designed in the Tudor style, the building is two storeys high and has a symmetrical facade with three bays. The windows are 2-light casements with glazing bars, brick voussoirs, and ornamental painted labels above them.
The central projecting porch is topped by a narrow front-facing gable, which has a blank opening with a label on its face. There is a casement window on the first floor and a broad opening on the ground floor, also with a label and painted jambs. Inside the porch, there is a bench, and the inner door is a six-panelled design with the top four panels glazed.
To the left, there is a later single bay wing that matches the main building's style, featuring a front-facing gable and a door opening with a six-panelled door. Above the main entrance, there is a signboard that reads "RAILWAY HOTEL" in high-quality lettering, with a similar signboard on the right return. This building is part of the former Great Western Railway.
