Mortuary, In Churchyard 30 Metres North West Of, Church Of St John Evangelist

The mortuary, located in the churchyard 30 metres northwest of the Church of St John Evangelist, was probably built in 1869 and may have been designed by Henry Hall. It is constructed from local stone coursed rubble with ashlar dressings and features a plain clay tile roof with bands of fish scale tiles, gabled on all four sides. The building has a square plan and is a single storey.

The west elevation includes a 4-centre arch, possibly from the 18th century, beneath a square label, flanked by two 15th-century statue niches with canopies. Above this is a gable with a circular window and a sculpted head. The south wall features a window in a 12th-century style and another circular window in the gable, which appears to be a reused element. The east gable has a similar circular window, while the north gable displays a different pattern. This mortuary was constructed using materials and fragments from the old nave, which was demolished between 1867 and 1869.
