Description

The Cemetery Chapel, built in 1860, is located on the west side of Bell Road in Sittingbourne. Constructed from ashlar blocks with stone dressings, it features two mortuary chapels connected by a passageway that includes a central carriage arch. The building is single-storey with a tiled roof adorned with bands of fishscale tiles. The windows are either single or double lancets, and there are buttresses supporting the structure. Each chapel has a rose window on its side. The front elevation showcases a foliated window in the chapel and two lancets on either side of the passage. A central pseudo-bellcote displays a date stone. The Cemetery Chapel, along with Nos 46 to 50 (even) and the wall to the cemetery, forms a cohesive group.
