Description

Badcox Chapel, built in 1813, is an ashlar building originally serving as a Baptist church and schoolroom. The front features a Greek Doric portico with a Doric frieze and pediment, situated on lias steps and contained within a tall parapet, with paired columns. A central eared doorcase gives access to panelled doors. Flanking bays have cornices and tall parapet details; the right-hand bay contains an end pilaster and eared doorways with a blind panel above. A two-storey, three-bay projecting rubble extension is located to the left, featuring a pediment gable and moulded verge. It has architraves and cornices to its windows, with a pediment over the central first-floor window. The main room, constructed of rubble, rises behind.

The interior is galleried on three sides, supported by cast-iron columns, and features panelled divisions and rising seats. Remnants of an organ remain. Five arched windows with Art Nouveau patterns in the glazing are present. A coved cornice runs along the ceiling.
