Description

Curriott House is a farmhouse, now a house, dating from the late 17th century. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble with Ham Hill stone dressings, topped by a steep pitched slate roof with stepped stone copings and brick stacks at the gable ends. The building has a three-unit central-entry plan, with a 19th-century rear wing on the left.

The exterior features two storeys and a symmetrical three-window range. All windows have hollow-moulded stone mullions, with two-light casements on the first floor at eaves level and three-light casements on the ground floor, all under label moulds. The 18th-century six-panel door, which is planked at the back and glazed at the top, is set beneath a wooden lintel. The rear wing has a flat stone porch at the entrance facing the former farmyard.

Inside, there is an open fireplace with a chamfered wooden lintel on the rear wall of the wing, which is said to have had stairs in the right corner. The left gable end features a square open fireplace with roll-moulding on the edge. Each room has a chamfered cross-beam, and the roof structure includes four collar trusses with trenched purlins, jointed at the main rafters.

In front of the house, there are attached spearhead railings supported by a limestone rubble plinth, featuring elaborate scroll supports and double gates at the center, which front the long garden.
