Description

Manor Farmhouse is a farmhouse, now a house, dating from the late 17th century, with possible earlier origins. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble with squared quoins, except for a section on the right side that is roughcast over lath and plaster in a timber frame. The roof is hipped and covered with stone slates, and there are 17th century brick stacks at the rear and on the right end. The building has an L-plan layout with a rear right wing and features two storeys and a three-window range. The central entrance has a 20th century door with a timber porch. The windows have flat rendered arches over early 19th century eight-pane sashes, and there is a modillioned eaves cornice. The right side wall has a two-window range with two late 17th century cross windows on the first floor, and there is a late 17th or early 18th century outshut that has been remodelled in the 20th century, located to the left of the short rear wing. A 20th century extension is present on the right.

Inside, there is a fine late 17th century staircase to the right of the door, featuring a dog-leg design with landings that rise to the attic, turned balusters on a closed string, square newels, and a bolection-panelled dado. The kitchen at the rear has an open fireplace. On the first floor, there is a round-arched doorway with moulded imposts leading to the landing; a late 17th century bolection-panelled room with doors to the left; and a room to the rear right that also has bolection-moulded panelling, doors, and a fireplace. The roof structure includes butt-purlins.
