House. Early/mid C19. MATERIALS: squared, coursed limestone; slate roof with brick stacks to gable ends and wrought-iron brackets to the gutters. PLAN: double-depth plan. EXTERIOR:2 storeys; symmetrical 3-window range. Flat stone arches over 8/8-pane sashes. The doorcase has reeded imposts to an elliptical arch, fanlight and 5-panel door. The cellar to the left, has a stone-mullioned window. INTERIOR: 6-panel doors. The staircase, to the rear of the left-hand room has ivory or bone inlay to the wreathing of the swept mahogany rail, stick balusters and fretted ends with panelling below; a high dado rail in the hall continues up the stairs. The room to the right has elliptical arches flanking the C20 fireplace. The cellar has a tunnel-vaulted ceiling supporting the hall floor. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: a rubblestone wall attached to the left, curves forward and encloses the front garden; pressed into each slab of the clay tile coping is a crown and the letter P, said to be from the local Poulet brickworks. Ham Hill stone gate piers with pyramidal caps support double iron gates; the tops curve down toward the centre with iron balls to side and centre, the rails are long/short, a horizontal band of circles across the centre has wavey spikes above and the spaces between the rails at the top are filled with inverted semi-circles.
