Description

St Patrick's Chapel, founded in 1517 alongside St Patrick's Almshouses (now demolished), is a simple Perpendicular style chapel constructed of random rubble with a pantile roof. It features a bellcote with a single bell at the west gable and panels displaying carved arms of the Abbey and Tudor roses at the west end. The chapel has a 4-light traceried window on the east side and a south window that retains its original glass. Inside, there is a pre-Reformation altar-table. The chapel is situated within the Abbey grounds, which are designated as a scheduled Ancient Monument area. All the listed buildings in the Abbey grounds form an extremely important group.
