Group of Four Templeman Monuments in Churchyard, About 4 Metres South of South-East Corner of Church of All Saints

A group of four Templeman monuments is located in the churchyard about 4 metres south of the south-east corner of the Church of All Saints. These are chest tombs dating from the late 17th century to the earlier 18th century, all made of Ham stone.

The first monument, situated about 2 metres south of the church, is a late 17th-century chest tomb with a buried base. It features one panel on each end and two on each side, all surrounded by egg-and-dart mouldings, with fluted pilasters on the sides and a cyma-recta coving on the hipped top. It commemorates Catherine Templeman, who died in 1670, and others.

The second monument, located about 3 metres south of the church, is also a late 17th-century chest tomb with a buried base. It has one fielded panel on each face and a single fielded pilaster on the flanks, which are ovolo moulded. The hipped top is adorned with moulded coving. This tomb commemorates Katherine Templeman, who died in 1695, and others.

The third monument, about 4 metres south of the church, is an earlier 18th-century chest tomb, again with a buried base. It has one panel on each end and two on each flank, framed with wave-moulding and fluted pilasters on the sides. The heavy shallow-hipped top features cyma recta coving and commemorates Susan Templeman, who died in 1747.

The fourth monument, approximately 6 metres south of the church, is another earlier 18th-century chest tomb with a buried base. Similar to the third, it has one panel on each end and two on each flank, with wave-mould frames and fluted pilasters. The heavy shallow-hipped top also has cyma-recta coving and commemorates Robert Templeman, who died in 1729, and others.
