Description

Lipyeate House is an 18th-century house extended in the early 19th century. It is constructed of ashlar and roughcast rendered to resemble ashlar, with wide, bracketed eaves and a slate roof, featuring ashlar stacks. The house has an L-shaped plan. The two-storey, two-bay garden front has 16-pane sash windows; those on the ground floor are set in shallow, semi-circular recesses, with emphasised pilasters, a plinth, and a first-floor band. The left return side is in a similar style. The entrance features a 6-panelled door and a glazed loggia supported by four Tuscan columns. Inside, a fine geometric staircase is a particular feature.
