Description

There are two pairs of gate piers located 35 metres north of Newton House, likely dating from the 18th century. They are made of ham stone ashlar and are square in shape, measuring about 0.6 metres on each side and standing 4 metres tall. The piers have no plinth and feature cornice mouldings at the top, leading to a block base and a tall urn with scalloped detailing. Modern timber gates are situated between the piers. These gate piers are significant to the immediate setting of Newton House.
