Description

Two sets of gatepiers and an attached wall at Newton Old Hall date from the late 17th century and late 19th century. They are made of ashlar and coursed rubble stone. The gatepiers stand approximately ten feet high and feature plain square piers topped with moulded cornices and large ball finials. The gatepiers at the front of the house, which have 20th-century gates, are 19th-century copies of those to the south. The two sets of gatepiers are connected by a high rubble wall with rounded copings.
