Description

The remains of a churchyard cross, dating from the 15th century, are located about 23 meters north of the north aisle of the Church of St. Mary in North Petherton. This cross is made of dressed stone and features a base consisting of two octagonal steps. It has a square socket with an octagonal upper bed and angle shafts, with a quatrefoil design on each face. The shaft and head of the cross are missing. This structure is also designated as a Scheduled Ancient Monument (Somerset County No. 364) and is referenced in Pooley's "Old Crosses of Somerset" from 1877.
