Description
The churchyard cross, located about 10 metres south of the south chapel of the Church of St. Margaret, dates from the 14th or 15th century. It is made of dressed stone and has an octagonal shape. The base features a Calvary of three steps, with the lower step being benched. Each face of the socket has an uncharged shield, and the shaft displays a defaced tabernacle head with relief sculpture. This cross is also recognized as an Ancient Monument (Somerset County No. 361) and is referenced in Pooley's "Old Crosses of Somerset," published in 1877.
