Description

Court House Farmhouse is a manor house that has been converted into a farmhouse, dating from the 15th or 16th century, with alterations made in the 18th and 19th centuries. The building is constructed of random rubble, featuring some coped verges and dressed quoins, topped with a triple-Roman tile roof. It has three brick and one ashlar chimney stacks, with two of the stacks on projecting rubble bases that have offsets.

The farmhouse is arranged in an L-plan, with a wing to the right that contains a first-floor hall currently used for storage. On the right side of the first floor, there are three two-light stone-mullioned windows, each light having a cinquefoiled head, iron saddle, and stanchion bars, with leaded lights. The ground floor features a three-light casement window with leaded lights and three small windows set in massive chamfered stone surrounds, also with leaded lights. There are two door openings in this range; one has a flat-pointed stone surround with a studded plank door, while the other is blocked and obscured by creeper, but also has a chamfered dressed stone surround. At the rear, there is another flat-pointed arch door opening with a studded plank door.

The left range consists of five bays, with the first floor containing four 18th-century leaded iron casements, some with quadrants, and a four-light ovolo-moulded wooden-mullioned window with leaded lights. The ground floor has two large 19th-century three-light casements with glazing bars beneath earlier stopped labels, along with another three-light casement. There are two door openings in this range as well; one has a flat-pointed surround with a studded plank door, and the other is a half-glazed door. The interior of the farmhouse has been extensively remodeled in the 18th and 19th centuries. The right range features a cruck-built roof.
