Description
Splatt Mill House is a mill house dating from the 16th or 17th century, with alterations from the 18th century. It is constructed of colourwashed rubble and features a double Roman tile roof that is hipped to the left, along with two rubble and two brick stacks. The garden front has five bays, with one, two, and three-light iron casements that have leaded lights. Notably, there is a four-light hollow moulded wooden-mullioned window on the right side of the ground floor, also with leaded lights. The door opening to the fourth bay is framed in a massive chamfered wooden surround and has a plank door. Inside, the house boasts a coffered ceiling, two fireplaces with massive chamfered wooden lintels, and 17th-century landing rails on the staircase, which features turned balusters and a similar gate at the top of the stairs.
