Description

A pair of attached houses on Frome Road, dating to the 18th century, with number 17 specifically dated 1777. They are built of coursed rubble with double Roman tile roofs, and have two 19th-century brick chimney stacks. Each house presents a virtually symmetrical facade.

Both houses are two storeys and have attics, with two bays each. Number 17 has 2- and 3-light stone-mullioned windows, the ground floor windows featuring stopped labels above each light, with sash windows and marginal lights or matching casements. Number 19 has 2-light bead-moulded stone-mullioned windows, except for a single-light opening on the right side of the ground floor, also with sash windows. Number 17 has a door in a chamfered stone surround, fitted with a 20th-century glazed door. Number 19 has a door within a bead-moulded stone surround, with a 20th-century vertical plank door. A stone plaque on the first floor of number 17 is inscribed with "CWR 1777.”
