Description

A pair of attached houses dating from the 18th century, located on Frome Road within Rode. The houses are constructed of random rubble, with number 9 having a triple-Roman tile roof and number 11 a double-Roman tile roof. They feature brick ridge stacks and a rubble ridge stack topped with brick.

The houses are two storeys with a 2:4 bay arrangement. The first floor has two-light hollow moulded stone-mullioned windows. The ground floor incorporates similar three-light openings, with the right-hand opening having been restored. Casements with horizontal glazing bars are present in the centre two bays. A continuous weathered string course runs above the heads of the left three ground floor windows. Number 9 has a vertical plank door under a large stone lintel, accompanied by a 19th-century gabled latticework porch. Number 11 features a two-panelled door set within a block stone surround.
