Description
No 12 is a house located on the south side of Church Lane, dating from the 17th century with alterations from the late 18th century. It is constructed of random rubble with dressed quoins and has coped verges topped with a double-Roman tile roof featuring two brick ridge stacks. The building has three storeys and three bays, each with three-light ovolo-moulded stone-mullioned windows beneath stopped labels. The centre bay on the first floor and the window openings on the second floor contain 12-pane sash windows set in plain stone surrounds. There is a central door opening framed by a bead-moulded stone surround, leading to a six-panelled door and a late 19th-century cross-gabled porch supported by slender wooden columns. To the right, there is a single-storey outshut with two bays under a double-Roman tile roof, featuring 19th-century casements, one of which has glazing bars. The forecourt is enclosed by a rubble wall and includes a cast iron gate, with each rail topped by a decorative cap.
