Description
Old Manor is a manor house dating from the early 17th century, with a refronting dated 1692. It is constructed of coursed rubble with ashlar quoins, featuring a moulded cornice above a plain band and a parapet with coping that extends as a verge on three regularly placed gables topped with finials. The slate roof has a stone ridge course, with coped verges on the returns and ashlar stacks with moulded caps at each gable, as well as a further similar stack offset to the center.
The building has a rectangular plan and presents a unified yet asymmetrical facade. It is two storeys high with an attic, consisting of seven bays, and features 2-light ogee-moulded stone-mullioned windows. The ground and first floor windows have transoms and leaded lights, with some quadrants still intact. A moulded string runs at first floor level and above the heads of the first floor windows, with a plain band between the transoms of these windows.
The entrance has an offset door opening within a bolection moulded stone surround, a pulvinated frieze, and a triangular pediment, with raised lettering that reads "PSA 1692" in the tympanum, leading to a 20th-century plank door. Inside, the left ground floor room contains a broad open fireplace with a chamfered lintel, while the central room has a fireplace in a bolection moulded stone surround. There are two similar fireplaces on the first floor, all likely inserted in 1692. The interior also features some late 18th-century work, including window shutters in all ground floor rooms. A single storey outshut on the left side is not included in the listing.
