Description

This lamp-post, located close to the south-west angle of the Parish Church of St John the Baptist, was created between 1901 and 1904 by the local art-metal firm of Singers. It features a cast-iron standard with a crook designed to suspend lamps, which is adorned with art-nouveau style ornamentation. This lamp-post has been adapted for town lighting, representing an early provincial example of electrification.
