Description
This lamp post, located on the steps to the north of the Church of St John the Baptist, was constructed between 1901 and 1904 by the local art-metal firm of Singers. It features cast iron standards with a crook designed to suspend lamps, which is adorned with Art Nouveau style ornamentation. This lamp post has been adapted for town lighting and is an early provincial example of electrification.
