Description
Mulberry House is a detached house that dates back to 1800, although the rear portion may be older. It is constructed from roughly cut and squared local stone with Cary stone dressings, topped by a plain clay tile roof that features stepped coped gables and brick end chimney stacks. The building has an 'L' shape, is two stories tall with attics, and consists of three bays. Notable architectural features include a plinth, a band course, a toothed brick eaves course, and rusticated quoins. The house has 12-pane sash windows set within architraves. In the lower bay two, there is a six-panelled door beneath a semi-circular arched fanlight that is radially leaded, designed in the Adam style, and framed by an architrave under an open pediment supported by console brackets. High in the south gable, there is a square plaque inscribed with 'P/WE/1800'. The interior has not been seen, but panelled window shutters have been noted.
