Description
Townsend Farmhouse is an early 19th-century farmhouse located in Skilgate Village. The building features roughcast, likely over rubble, with slate roofs and brick stacks on the left gable end and the right side of a lower, independently roofed service wing. The layout consists of two main cells and a two-cell service end. It stands two storeys high with a symmetrical facade of two bays on each side. The left side has 16-pane sash windows, while the entrance is located in the right-hand corner at the junction with the service wing, featuring a flush panel door and a projecting roughcast flat roof porch. The right side has two-light, many-paned casements and a central plank door. The left return gable end is unlit. This farmhouse is notable for being an unaltered example of early 19th-century architecture in a village context.
