Description
This is a farmhouse, likely dating back to the 16th century, possibly with even earlier origins. It was enlarged during the 17th century and restored in the late 20th century. The exterior is rendered over rubble, with asbestos slate roofs and concrete tiles at the rear. A prominent stone stack with a brick cap rises from the south wing, and another brick stack is located at the left gable and centre of the south wing. The building follows a "T-plan" layout with three main rooms and a cross passage, and may have originally been an open hall house, later expanded with a kitchen wing at the rear. It has one-and-a-half storeys and features late 20th-century windows on the front facade, with gabled dormers set below the eaves. A raking buttress supports the end bay on the left side of the facade, and the entrance is flanked by a three-light and a two-light casement window, leading to an early 19th-century panelled door. A remaining four-light chamfered mullioned window is visible in the gable end of the right return. The left return has a small two-light chamfered mullioned window and a three-light window with ovolo moulded mullions. A similar 17th-century window is present on the west front of the rear wing, overlooking the courtyard. The interior of the rear wing reveals chamfered beams with stepped and run-out stops in the kitchen, and an adjoining room contains a copper and a bread oven.
