Description
The Village School, built in 1841 and extended in 1887, is a school building constructed of Flemish bond red brick. It features coped verges with large cruciform finials and a slate roof, along with a small brick stack. Designed in the Perpendicular style, the building is single storey with attics and has two slightly projecting front-facing gables. The facade consists of 1:2:1:2 bays and includes three-light hollow moulded stone-mullioned windows on the ground floor, each light topped with a foiled head and accompanied by dripmoulds. Each gable has a single light window with a foiled head and a dripmould. There are also two door openings with 4-centred arches in moulded surrounds, featuring dripmoulds and half-glazed doors designed in a traceried style.
