Description
No. 8 St John Street is a house located at the end of a row, dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of local stone rubble, which is rendered and colourwashed on the front elevation, and features a clay pantiled roof that extends to the south with a coped gable to the north. There is a brick chimney stack.
The exterior consists of two storeys and two bays. The original 12-pane sash windows have been replaced with modern sash windows in plain openings. The ground floor has a moulded hood, and the first bay features a 20th-century front door framed by a timber architrave and topped with a timber pediment-type hood supported by brackets. On the north gable, there are two semicircular-arched plain casement windows on each level.
The interior has not been inspected. Nos. 8-18 St John Street form a terrace with a consistent design.
