Description
The wash basin, or laver, was built in 1876 and is made of roughly dressed stone. It features a large round arch niche in the wall, which is adorned with roughly dressed voussoirs and a keystone. The keystone is carved with a monogram "HC" and the date 1876, set within an elongated quatrefoil that has a small Maltese cross at the top. Inside the niche, there is a semi-circular stone basin supported by rough stone corbels, with a water supply sourced from a pool located behind it. This wash basin was funded by the vicar, Reverend Clutterbuck, for the villagers to wash their clothes.
