Description

Castle Cottage is a 17th-century cottage located in a courtyard off The Square in Wiveliscombe. It was refronted in the early 19th century. The cottage is timber framed and has rough cast render with bituminous covered slates. It is designed in a Gothick style. The two-story cottage appears as a three-story building due to a blind parapet with an arched centre panel over a full-height bow; it has three bays. The bow features two casement windows with glazing bars, a small pointed window with tracery above a covered passageway on the right side, and three blocked windows in the top storey. A modern door is located on the left side. The rear elevation was refronted in the 20th century.
