Description
No 2A on Silver Street is a 18th-century house and shop that is part of the premises of Monks the Newsagents at No 1 High Street. It features a late 19th-century shopfront and is constructed with render and a hipped slate roof. The building has two storeys and a single bay, located at the junction of Silver Street and High Street. It includes a sash window with glazing bars and a shopfront supported by slender Corinthian columns, along with a wrought iron sign bracket. The left side of the building, facing Silver Street, has a long two-bay elevation with another sash window featuring glazing bars and a 20th-century door. It is reputed to have served as the Roman Catholic Chapel in the early 20th century.
