Description
This is an early 19th-century shop and church room, likely built on the site of an earlier structure, probably dating from the 17th century. The front of the building was refaced and enlarged during the early 19th century. It is constructed of painted brick with a gabled roof covered in Welsh slate, the rear span of which extends over an earlier building. Brick stacks are visible. The building is three stories high and has a three-bay front. The upper floors feature tripartite sash windows with glazing bars. The ground floor sashes have been altered. The second floor has sash windows with glazing bars and some modern windows. A depressed archway to the left leads to a carriageway. The archway is flanked by pilasters and capitals, topped with a cornice. It contains an early 19th-century ledged and braced double door with ornamental hinges and studding; the door has been rebated into the wall. The main entrance is centrally located, with rusticated jambs, and a recessed 20th-century door.
