Description
Upingtons is a house dating from the mid-18th century, with alterations made in the early 19th century. It is constructed of red brick featuring a pattern of blue headers on the second floor, a string course, and a moulded wooden cornice. The roof is low pitched and covered with Welsh slate, gabled to the left, and there are brick stacks. The windows are sash style with glazing bars, and the sash boxes are located on the first and second floors. The ground floor windows have rusticated voussoirs, while the first floor windows feature relieving arches.
The entrance is marked by an open pediment doorcase that has panelled reveals and is supported by Tuscan columns, topped with a coloured glass fanlight. There is a second doorway in the left end bay, which has stressed voussoirs, pilasters, and panelled reveals. The doors and ground floor windows were altered in the early 19th century, and it is possible that the second floor was added in the late 18th century.
