Description
Westwayne is a house, now divided, with an attached coach house. It dates from the 18th century, with the coach house added in the 19th century. The building is constructed from red sandstone random rubble masonry and features a Welsh slate roof with brick stacks. It is two stories tall and has seven bays, with a mix of wood and metal two and three light casements that have square leaded panes. There is a flat porch canopy supported by wrought iron brackets, leading to a tongue and groove door.
At the rear, there are two rendered, two-story canted bay extensions with gables, which were added in the late 19th century. Inside, there is a fine polished mahogany barley sugar twist open string staircase from the 18th century, featuring four ornately carved newel posts that were inserted at random in the mid-19th century in No 2.
The coach house is set back on the left-hand side at an angle, with a ramp in front. It is built from random rubble masonry with brick surrounds to the openings and has a Welsh slate roof. The coach house is also two stories tall, with two openings at ground floor level and a wooden casement on the first floor. There is a gabled extension at the rear, which is probably from the 18th century.
