Description
The Crown Hotel is a building with an 18th-century front that is part of an earlier structure. It stands four storeys tall and is finished in stucco, featuring a moulded cornice and a parapet with coping. There is a plain band at the second floor level and three windows with cross-glazed sashes set in plain raised architraves. The central stone doorcase has a plain lintel supported by pilasters. An ornamental hanging inn-sign is displayed on the corner.
The building has a three-window return elevation with a slight panel for the chimney. There is a three-storey extension made of painted rubble dating from around 1697, which has one window on the ground floor and four windows above. Coved strings run over the first and ground floors, with remnants visible on the latter. Several two-light mullion windows and one range of single-light windows with moulded surrounds are still present, along with three glazing bar sashes in flush moulded frames. The corner of the building is rounded.
Inside, the fireplace in the bar features a tabled inscription reading "E I 1697" above it, which was formerly located outside. Additionally, there is a decorated oculus in the gable facing south-west.
