Description

This is a post office building of the mid-19th century, located on the north-west side of Market Place. It is a large, three-storey building constructed of ashlar, originally with three bays and later extended by two. The roof is hipped and slate-covered, with brackets at the eaves. The front of the building appears to align with that of number 8. Horizontal bands delineate the floors. Cross-glazed sash windows have bracketed sills and a single pilaster strip dividing the panes. A 20th-century lobby was added to the right of centre. The building is listed for its contribution to the group value of the surrounding area.
