Range Of Outbuildings About 20 Metres North West Of Lytes Cary

This is a range of outbuildings located about 20 metres northwest of Lytes Cary, dating from the 18th century and modified later. The buildings are constructed from local lias stone that is cut and squared, with some brick dressings. The barn features a Welsh slate roof with overhangs, while the other roofs are covered with double Roman clay tiles.

The barn consists of five bays and has a central cross-porch with weatherboarded gables above tall doors. It includes 19th-century roof trusses. Attached to the west is a small cottage that continues the line of the building. At the eastern end, there is a lean-to that reuses a small timber window with an ovolo mould.

The complex forms a Z-plan and includes two open buildings, each with five bays. One side has five arches, while the other side has ten arches, with three central arches made of brick featuring small keystones. Overall, these outbuildings significantly enhance the setting of Lytes Cary.
