Description
The Nook is a cottage that likely dates back to the 17th century. It features mostly rough render, which appears to be on cob, along with some random local stone rubble. The original thatched roof has been replaced with a corrugated iron roof, and there are brick chimney stacks. The building is two stories tall and has four bays with irregular window arrangements. The windows are deeply recessed in the rendered sections. There are 20th-century garage doors in the first bay, a recessed doorway in the second bay that follows a 19th-century pattern, large 19th-century casement windows on the ground floor, and smaller, earlier casement windows above, some of which show traces of ovolo mouldings in their frames. There is also an indication of an earlier and lower roof line on the west gable.
