Description
North End is a cottage dated 1837, constructed of local stone rubble with distinctive stone features. It has a concrete double Roman tile roof set between coped gables and brick chimney stacks at each end. The building is two storeys high and has a three-bay south elevation. Notable architectural details include boasted quoins, a band course between the floors, and toothed window surrounds. The windows are 12-pane sash types, and there is a semi-circular arched doorway in the lower bay of the second section, featuring a late 20th-century glazed door with a radial fanlight above it.
On the east gable, there are two 6-pane casements at the first floor level, flanking a panel inscribed with "North End Cottage." Above this, there is a second band course along with a shield and a tablet inscribed with "1837." The north side has an extension, which was likely a separate cottage of similar age. This extension has two bays, a lower roof, segmental arched casement windows, and a segmental arched doorway with a mid-20th-century recessed door. The interior has not been seen.
