Description

This is a corner block of eight cottages, built in the early 19th century. The cottages are constructed of local stone rubble with plain ashlar quoins, and have a Welsh slate roof with decorative bargeboards to the gables. Brick chimney stacks are also present. The arrangement is in an 'L' shape, with two bays to each house except number 654, which has three bays. The windows are casement windows with small panes, featuring three lights below and two lights above, all set within voussoired segmental arched openings. Attic windows are present in the gable ends of numbers 657 and 658. One window in number 660 has been replaced with aluminium. Most of the original boarded doors remain, although some have been replaced with glazed doors set within stone and slate porches, which also feature ornate bargeboards at numbers 653 and 654.
