Description
Monks Place is a detached house, probably dating from the 17th century. It is constructed from local stone coursed rubble with ashlar dressings and features a clay tile roof with stone slate base courses and simple eaves. The house has a 'T'-plan and stands two storeys high with attics, presenting a four-bay front elevation. The windows are chamfered and mullioned, with labels; there are three lights in bay one and upper bay four, a single light in upper bay three, and a four-light window with a transom in lower bay four. Bay two has a projecting two-storey coped gabled porch with a moulded four-centre arched doorway and a two-light mullioned window above, both lacking labels. All windows have 20th-century diamond pane leading. The side elevation has been significantly altered, and the interior has not been seen.
