Description
Thimble Cottage is a house located at the end of a row, which was formerly a shop. It dates from the 18th century and has undergone some modifications. The building is constructed from local stone rubble with ashlar quoins and has a rendered east gable, topped with plain clay tile roofs. It stands two storeys high and features two bays. The first bay has an early 20th-century shopfront that includes timber Doric pilasters, a medium fascia, and a moulded hood, along with a rendered stall riser and very wide four-pane sash windows. There is a later half-glazed door to the right. The second bay has large nine-pane sash windows on the lower level and twelve-pane sash windows on the upper level. The interior has not been seen. The building is primarily noted for its group value within the context of the surrounding area.
