Description

St Agnes' Well, located about 250 metres north-east of Cothelstone Manor Gateway, is a well house dating back to the medieval period, with restoration from the 19th century. It is constructed from coursed red sandstone masonry and features a corbel roof. The structure stands approximately 1.6 metres high and has a square plan. On the south-west front, there is a round-headed opening that contains a mid-19th century wooden door, which is about 500 mm high and has decorative hinges. The well is reputedly known for its healing properties.
