Description
The village stocks, located in the churchyard 12 metres southeast of the chancel of St George, date from the late 18th century to early 19th century and were restored in the early 20th century. They are made of wood, measuring about one and a half metres long and 400 cm high, featuring five circular openings. The stocks have cast iron hinges at either end, with a padlock inscribed 'V R Patent' beneath a crown. An early 20th-century bench in St George's Church is carved with a depiction of the stocks, which stand in the shade of a large yew tree. The stocks are listed primarily for their historic interest.
