Description
The coach house and adjacent gate piers, located 10 metres east of Barren Down House, date from around 1800. They are built from rubble with squared quoins and feature freestone details, topped with a slate roof and coped verges. The structure is rectangular in shape and of high-quality construction, consisting of a single storey with two bays. On the left side, there is a wide doorway with a segmental arch head and a plain stone architrave. To the right, there is a square-headed doorway also with a plain architrave, flanked by 12-light sash windows in matching surrounds. A pitching eye is present in the left return. The adjacent gate piers are made of rusticated ashlar and have moulded capstones.
