Description

The Old Rectory is a house, originally a rectory, dating to the 16th and 17th centuries, with substantial alterations made in the early 19th century. The exterior is roughcast, with a triple-Roman tile roof and brick stacks. The building is in a Gothick style and comprises two storeys and an attic, with three bays. It has two-light casement windows with ornamental glazing bars. A single-storey canted bay window is located to the right of the ground floor. The attic has a gabled dormer and a half dormer, with tiled copings to the verges. The central doorway is flanked by a pair of half-glazed Gothick doors, which are sheltered by an ornamental porch with a single-pitched roof. Internally, the right side of the ground floor has a moulded cornice. There are some panelled doors and a surviving large wooden bressumer, a remnant of a former fireplace, is visible within a hall cupboard.
