Description
This description covers a pair of chest tombs located in the churchyard about 3 metres southeast of the porch of the Church of St Michael and All Angels in Haselbury Plucknett. Both tombs date from the 18th century.
The first tomb, an unidentified monument, is situated approximately 3 metres south of the nave. It is made of Ham stone and features a moulded plinth with one fielded panel on each face. The flanks have fluted pilasters, and there is no frieze. The top is hipped with rounded leading edges and has moulded coving. The inscriptions on this tomb are badly worn.
The second tomb, known as the Hinn monument, is located about 0.5 metres south of the first. This chest tomb is also made of Ham stone and has a moulded plinth with one fielded panel on each face, along with single-panel pilasters on the flanks and no frieze. It has a hipped top with rounded leading edges as well. This monument commemorates ---, the wife of Thomas Hinn, who died in 1777.
