Description
The bakehouse, located 5 metres north of No. 8 High Street, is a disused building dating from the mid-19th century. It is constructed of blue lias random rubble with brick dressings and quoins, topped with a plain tile roof and featuring a brick stack at the east end. The building is a single-storey, single-cell structure with one bay. The north front has a sash window with glazing bars, and to the right is a plank door. The northeast corner of the wall is chamfered. Although the interior was not viewed, it is said to contain the baker's oven. This small building is listed primarily for its group value with Nos. 8 and 10 High Street and Nos. 2 and 4 Lime Street, as well as for its historic interest.
